Robotics Seminar: Underwater Telerobotics Using Haptics

Howard J. Chizeck, Professor of Electrical Engineering, University of Washington, will speak as part of the School of MIME Robotics Seminar series. Dr. Chizeck will present, "Underwater Telerobotics Using Haptics." Haptic rendering is the application of forces in a virtual environment to a user interface (such as a flight control stick, haptic glove or surgical robot hand controls). He will discuss his research into algorithms which perform haptic rendering of dynamically changing objects in real time, using one or more RGB-cameras. This allows for 'remote touching' of moving 3D physical objects.
