Vansycle, OR

The Vansycle site is located in north eastern Oregon - nearest town is Helix.  It is located at an elevation of 1780 feet just to the northwest of the Portland General Electric/FPL Vansycle 25 MW wind farm on the Vansycle ridge off of Butler Grade road. This site was instrumented in late July 2002 and became operational August 2, 2002.  It originally had MET ONE sonic anemometers installed at the 98, 146, and 201 ft. levels with a RM Young Wind Monitor prop-vane anemometer installed at the 101 ft. level and 205 ft level.  On July 15, 2008 changes were made at the Vansycle site including the removal of the sonic anemometers form 98’, 146’ and 201’ and the installation of an additional RM Young sensor at 146’.
