Research Interests: 

Research areas of interest include fluidized bed heat transfer, radiation through arrays of discrete surfaces, microscale fluid mechanics and a variety of numerical heat transfer studies.

Dr. Welty's current research efforts are supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and Tektronix, Inc. Previous support has included Batelle, EPA, DOA, AEC, and ERDA.

Dr. Welty is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
