University Day takes place Tuesday, Sept. 11. Michelle Kuo, author of “Reading with Patrick,” a true story of race, inequality and the power of literature, will give the keynote at 10:30 a.m. in The LaSells Stewart Center and will follow a 9:30 a.m. welcome reception for all university employees. Following this keynote presentation, a noon complimentary lunch takes place on 26th Street outside the LaSells Stewart Center followed by the University Day Expo in the CH2M Hill Alumni Center. Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium
The summer symposium is open to OSU undergraduates in all academic colleges and of all class standings. Students conducting research this summer or have conducted research prior to this summer are encouraged to apply. Presentations will include two lightning talk sessions and a poster fair (Linus Pauling Science Center)! Open to the public.

The School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering is hiring for several undergraduate learning assistants (LA) to help with MIME 101. In addition to grading student assignments, you will be teamed with another LA to co-lead ~three MIME 101 recitation sections. Each of these sections will include 20-24 MIME freshmen/transfer students and will meet once a week for two hours. Thus, you will have a total of six hours of teaching time per week but will present the same material in all sections (weekly training provided). In your capacity as an MIME 101 LA, you may be working with multiple MIME 101 instructors and Graduate Assistants. This position requires a one-term commitment. Postdoctoral scholar: Desalinate high-salinity water: The Oregon State University Water and Energy Technologies Laboratory (WET Lab) and the School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (MIME) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 18-month (with the possibility of extension), fixed-term Postdoctoral Scholar position. The WET Lab Postdoctoral Scholar will work on a DOE EERE funded project to desalinate high-salinity water and produce potable water. More info.
