Slama reaches 'Driver vs. Driver 2' reality TV finale (Statesman Journal)
Hundreds of applicants wanted to be part of Golf Channel’s “Driver vs. Driver 2” and that group has come down to two golf club designers. One of them is Salem native and Oregon State senior Tim Slama. The final episode in the seven-part reality TV series airs at 6 p.m. Tuesday, featuring Slama’s Rozwell driver and the Cortex, created by Evan Hoffman, an industrial designer from San Diego.

Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center to train next generation of skilled workers in a region with strong industry roots (Portland Business Journal)
Modeled after the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in England, OMIC represents a collaboration of industry, higher education and government seeking to combine applied research and development and workforce training, in the metals manufacturing industry. The effort will serve advanced manufacturers in the region while giving area residents access to living-wage careers in a growing industry sector.

Graduate Students in the LSMAP Center
The Ethnic Minorities United in STEM (EMUS) groups is a group of graduate students here at OSU who strive to: Support graduate students of color by providing a brave space to air and unpack grievances, thereby allowing members to rebuild and move forward from negative experiences; Increase visibility and celebrate accomplishments of people of color in STEM through outreach and engagement; and Foster connections between undergraduates, graduate students, post-docs, and faculty in order to build a community across STEM disciplines. The EMUS group will be in the LSAMP Center for their monthly meeting and to meet with undergraduates looking too find graduate mentors for job/grad school applications, finding internships and funding, and navigating the world of STEM careers. If you're interested in help with any of these things, or just have no idea where to start,  come to the LSAMP Center to meet with them!

Winter Term Pro-school Application Due 11/30
Winter term Pro-School application Applications are now open and due by 11:55pm on November 30th. The application is located at: http://engineering.oregonstate.edu/pro-school. URSA Engage - Call for Student Applications
The goal of URSA Engage is to provide first and second year students, and transfer students in their first year at OSU, opportunities to pursue research or a creative activity under the guidance of an OSU mentor. Students who are selected will receive an award of $750 and their faculty mentors will receive $250 to support the project. The program is available to undergraduates across all academic disciplines. Projects will take place from the middle of winter term 2019 through the end of spring term 2019 (15 weeks at 5 hrs/week).

Matlab helpdesk is offered in Dearborn 119A. We have students available every day of the week, including the weekend and some evenings.Get hands-on help with Matlab: finding and fixing bugs; writing scripts and functions; loops, logic, variables; plotting; and more. Full schedule.

OSU ScholarDollars
Oregon State’s new online scholarship search and application system, ScholarDollars, is now accepting applications for more than $50 million in 2019-20 scholarship funds. OSU students may complete one application to be considered for more than 1,600 campus-based scholarship opportunities. Students are encouraged to submit their ScholarDollars applications between Nov. 1, 2018, and Feb. 1, 2019, to maximize the number of scholarships for which they will be considered. EUSMAT opens a new call for Erasmus Mundus Scholarships for the AMASE Master Programme: Motivated students can apply for joining the AMASE Master Programme, which provides Erasmus Mundus scholarships for carrying out this two-year international Master in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering. Internship/Fellowship Opportunities

GRADUATE ASSISTANCE IN AREAS OF NATIONAL NEED
Missouri S&T was recently awarded a Ph.D. Fellowship Program in Interdisciplinary Graduate Education in Materials Engineering through the Department of Education's Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) initiative.The program is designed to encourage some of the best students from the United States to pursue their Ph.D. degrees, and it offers them a multi-faceted approach that provides hands-on research, community outreach and management experience. Each student can receive up to $49,213 a year for up to three years based on financial need, which includes tuition and fees. When the GAANN scholarship is finished, Missouri S&T is still committed to supporting the students until the completion of their degrees. Financial assistance to cover educational expenses including the cost of textbooks and other materials, computer hardware and software, travel to professional meetings and seminars, membership in professional organizations, involvement in research and training, and involvement with professional research grant-writing is also included. http://mse.mst.edu/facultystaffandfacilities/gaann/
