Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate
students majoring in Mechanical Engineering must first complete the requirements
of the pre-engineering program. Students who begin their engineering studies at OSU typically complete these requirements
during their first two years here. Many ME undergraduates, however, transfer to OSU after completing
their pre-engineering program requirements at another accredited institution.
Admission to the professional engineering program is by application
only and is based on academic performance. The minimum acceptable grade point average varies depending on the number of
applicants each year. Students generally apply in the spring for admission beginning the
following Fall quarter. A small number of students are also accepted to
begin the professional program in the Winter quarter, although
the cut-off GPA is generally higher for admission at this time.
To apply for admittance to the professional engineering program, use the College of Engineering's online application form. (Note: applications for Fall pro-school admission are available online starting about March 1, and are due by April 10, of the preceding spring quarter. Applications for Winter pro-school admission are available starting October 1 and due by November 1 of the preceding fall quarter.)
General information about OSU's pre-engineering and professional programs is available in the College
of Engineering's online Advising Guide. For additional program information specific to ME undergraduates, check the following resources:
