Material Science Seminar Features MIME’s Dr. Xu

Dr. Donghua Xu, assistant professor in the School of MIME, will present a discussion for this week's Materials Science seminar. Dr. Xu will present a systematic computational study of the defect accumulation in elemental molybdenum through multi-scale and multi-variable cluster dynamics and object kinetic Monte Carlo models. These models were first developed and validated based on well-controlled in-situ ion irradiation and ex-situ neutron irradiation experiments, and were then applied to address the outstanding question in the nuclear materials society of whether and how ion irradiation can be used to emulate neutron irradiation.
