BEAVER RACING SWEEPS 2009 BAJA OREGON!

Kudos to OSU Beaver Racing for yet another outstanding performance at international competition! At last weekend’s 2009 Baja SAE convocation in Portland and Washougal, WA, the team left all other comers in the dust (both literally and figuratively), placing 1st in design, 1st and 2nd in dynamic events, 1st and 2nd in endurance, and 1st and 3rd overall. In the four individual dynamic events, the team placed 1st and 2nd in rock crawl, 1st and 3rd in hill climb, 2nd in maneuverability, and 3rd and 6th in acceleration. The team also took 3rd and 7th in marketing presentation. For their impressive set of victories, the team received $6,000 in award moneys, not to mention an impressive gallery of trophies and plaques and a continuing worldwide reputation as The Team That Can’t Be Beat. Photos from this year’s event are not yet available, but you can check for updates at the Baja SAE Web site here.

AND KUDOS TO THE OSU HUMAN POWERED VEHICLE TEAM

WHO ALSO FINISHED IN THE TOP 10!

Congratulations to the OSU HPV team who recently competed in the 2009 ASME West Coast HPV Challenge at the Tektronix campus in Beaverton. The team’s vehicle, Endeavor, placed 8th in both male and female sprint, 5th in the endurance race, and 8th overall. For photos of this year’s competition, click here. JOIN US FOR THE 10TH ANNUAL ENGINEERING EXPO THIS FRIDAY!

The Engineering Expo takes over the Kelley Engineering Center this Friday, May 15th, 11 am–4 pm. All are welcome to enjoy this spectacular event, which showcases over 100 senior design projects from all engineering majors, along with a variety of other student projects and curricular innovations in the College of Engineering. The Expo is a great opportunity for alumni and friends to reconnect with OSU and check out the innovative approaches taken by students throughout the CoE in tackling real-world engineering design problems. As an all-ages event, it’s also an excellent opportunity to introduce K–12 students to (or further acquaint them with) the world of engineering, science, and technology. For more info, click here. Questions? Contact Renie Ashbaugh (541-737-3101 or renie.ashbaugh@oregonstate.edu).

We hope to see you there!
