EARTH UNDER FIRE: HOW GLOBAL WARMING IS CHANGING THE WORLD

World class photographer Gary Braasch will present images from his new book, Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is Changing the World, on Tuesday, February 5th at 7 pm in Withycombe Hall 109.

In the year 2000, Braasch embarked on a rare journey to follow climate scientists and the effects of global warming to the ends of the earth. Tuesday evening's presentation will include dramatic images of changing glaciers, landscapes, animals, and the human dimension of a changing climate, along with inspiring news about how people all over the world are responding. Braasch's  presentation is the lead off event for the Campus Carbon Challenge, a month-long project to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and encourage collective action to help stabilize climate change.  The event is sponsored by the Spring Creek Project and OSU's Student Sustainability Initiative.

Note: Sophomores who do not bring these to their appointment will need to RESCHEDULE. [posted 1/28]

STUDENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR IIE ANNUAL CONFERENCE (May 17-21, Vancouver, BC). Each year, students contribute greatly to the success of the IIE Annual Conference by helping with a variety of tasks. Bag stuffing and registration are two of the areas where we count on student help. We need 30 student volunteers. For each 8 hours you work, you’ll receive a $100 discount on your conference registration. Student early registration is only $155 for members and $195 for non-members, so you can work off a significant amount of your cost by giving us a day of your time. To volunteer, complete this online form:

http://www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB227CJ3LU5GK. All we need is your contact information, and we'll get in touch with you regarding specific areas you can help with. And just imagine millions of customers, not to mention your classmates, seeing your work! Some interns even parlay their experience into a job offer. http://www.microsoft.com/college/ip_overview.mspx.
