Senior Design Project
The MIME Senior Design Project is the capstone educational experience for OSU Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering undergraduates. Over the course of two terms, teams of MIME students design, build, and test their solutions to selected engineering design problems; and they present these solutions to a variety of audiences. (For examples of recent projects,

Many senior design projects are sponsored by industry partners, government agencies, and community service organizations;
others are sponsored by OSU
engineering faculty; and still others are initiated by MIME students themselves. Some projects are MIME-specific, and others are more broadly cross-disciplinary with team members coming from Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, etc. as well as from MIME. All senior design teams work with a faculty advisor
and, where applicable, a mentor from their sponsoring organization.
The Senior Design Project not only provides OSU MIME students with practical experience in mechanical, industrial, and manufacturing
engineering design, but it also sharpens their skills in project management, written and oral communication,
and collaborative teamwork—all vitally important elements of success in today's global engineering workplace.
