Undergraduate Advising & Program Planning
In order to ensure timely completion of all degree requirements,
all students in the MIME undergraduate programs must participate in
the advising process. Advisors are not only there to help you decide which
courses you should take. They are also a valuable source of advice and
information about career choices, employment opportunities, internships,
projects, and many other topics.
The College of Engineering also offers an academic coaching program for undergraduates who are seeking to clarify their educational and life goals and improve their academic performance. To learn more or to schedule an appointment with a peer coach, click here.

Overview: Undergraduate Advising Process
As a Pre-Engineering or Pro-Engineering student, you must meet with your advisor each term, prior to registering for the next term. The MIME undergraduate advising office is located in Dearborn 102. You should come to your advising appointment with a tentative schedule worked out (using the Undergraduate Advising Guide as a reference) and a list of questions for your advisor. At the appointment, your advisor will:
- Review your performance with you and update your file.
- Recommend courses for you to take next term.
- Give you your registration PIN (personal identification number) for the next term.
You will then choose your courses and class times and complete your online course registration for the next term.
ATTENTION SOPHOMORES: If you will be applying to Pro-School, you must calculate your current Pre-Core GPA and bring two copies to your advising appointment in Dearborn 102.
