Course Description
Continuation of the study of kinematics and kinetics of particles and rigid bodies, with applications to mechanical systems of current interest to engineers.
Topics
- Three-dimensional kinematics of a rigid body
- Planar kinetics of a rigid body
- Three-dimensional kinetics of a rigid body
- Equations of motion
Learning Outcomes
The student, upon completion of this course, will be able to:
- Derive the position, velocity, angular velocity, acceleration, and angular acceleration vectors associated with rigid body motion.
- Formulate and solve generic planar and 3D kinematics problems for mechanical systems.
- Generate dynamic equations of motion for general motion of rigid bodies.
- Formulate and solve dynamic problems for general mechanical systems.
