Course Description

Introduction to SolidWorks CAD software. Applications of software to create solid models, engineering drawings, and assemblies.

  • Introduction to SolidWorks user interface, view controls, and model structure
  • Creating simple objects
  • Revolved protrusions, mirror copies, rounds, and chamfers
  • Datum and sketcher tools
  • Patterns and copies
  • Engineering drawings
  • Assembly: fundamentals and operations
  • Sweeps and blends
  • Individual project

Learning Outcomes

The student, upon completion of this course, will be able to:

  • Apply the CAD modeling skills learned in this class to real-world problems.
  • Create a CAD assembly model with descriptions of its function/improvements.
  • Identify and apply pertinent modeling methods and practices.
