Research Lab Facilities
The
faculty offices and laboratories for the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering are housed in Rogers, Dearborn, and Covell Halls on the OSU campus. Complete machine shop facilities
for student projects and research are supervised by a full-time machinist and
instrument technician. Numerous state-of-the-art computer facilities are available
for use in Rogers Hall and Dearborn Hall, including microcomputers, workstations, printers, plotters,
scanners, and data loggers.
 Facilities
in other parts of campus include a hydrodynamic wave research facility with
a 100-m long wave tank used for ocean engineering studies and a Triga research
reactor housed in the University Radiation Center. OSU is a NASA Space Grant
institution with supercomputing facilities housed in the College of Oceanography.
Time is made available to members of the OSU community for computational projects.
Another important resource is the Enviromental Protection Agency's National
Environmental Research Center located adjacent to the western edge of the campus.
The
Department of Energy Albany Research Center, a Hewlett-Packard plant, and a
variety of other industrial and government research labs and production plants
exist within a few miles of the campus and provide excellent opportunities for
interaction.
