OSU Energy Resources Research Laboratory Cape Blanco, OR Cape Blanco is located along the southern Oregon coast near the town of Port Orford. Wind data was collected at the site from October 1976 through Sept 2003 from a sensor on a 50 ft utility pole near the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. The Cape Blanco area sits on a coastal bench roughly 200 feet above sea level and consists of rolling pasture lands bordered by trees. The monthly wind speed values are shown in the figure below.
